Banqer

Financial Literacy

Banqer Round 2 is here!

E te iwi, Banqer Round 2 is here! We encourage whānau to register to take part in our second Banqer financial literacy series. This programme has been designed to support busy pakeke through a combination of live online webinars and hands-on learning using the Banqer platform.

Participants will attend three interactive webinars covering practical, everyday financial topics. Each session will include opportunities to hear from guest speakers, ask questions, and build confidence in making informed financial decisions.

All registered participants will receive a recording of each webinar the following day, so you won't miss out.

Programme schedule

  • Wednesday, 5 August | Budgeting:
  • Wednesday, 12 August | KiwiSaver & Retirement
  • Wednesday, 19 August | Risk & Insurance

Following the webinar series, participants will have one week of access to the Banqer platform, where they can put their learning into practice through interactive, simulation-based activities.

  • Monday, 24 August – Banqer platform opens for one week

What is Banqer?

Banqer is an Ōtautahi-based social enterprise with a vision of a world where every ākonga is empowered to thrive financially. Through engaging, real-world simulations, Banqer helps people build financial confidence by practising everyday money decisions in a safe, supportive environment.

Participants explore topics such as budgeting, banking, KiwiSaver, careers, renting, home ownership, insurance, and investing. Rather than learning about money in theory, they learn by doing—making decisions, seeing the outcomes, and building confidence for real life.

How does the programme work?

Participants will register online and receive confirmation and webinar details by email.

During August, participants will attend three live online webinars. Once the webinar series is complete, they'll receive access to the Banqer platform, where they can continue learning through interactive financial simulations at their own pace.

To access the programme, participants will need a laptop or tablet and an internet connection. Banqer is browser-based, so there is no app to download. The platform activities take approximately 15–30 minutes per day to complete.

Support during the programme

Participants will receive guidance emails throughout the programme to help them stay on track and make the most of the experience. If additional support is needed, the Banqer team will be available via email during normal business hours.
